“The unfolding of your words gives light…”  -Psalm 119:130

Break Open

God wants to speak to you.  He wants to break open his words and reveal his light.  “Break open your words, let the light shine out” (Psalm 119:130, The Message).  The NIV Bible calls it an unfolding of words.  To unfold means to open and spread out.     

The Bible in Unfolding Light is open because it shows the importance of being open to God’s words and having a posture to receive his words.  And when we literally open God’s word, he opens his words to us, allowing us to hear his voice and find him.  The Lord says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you” (Jeremiah 29:13).  Our willingness to seek him, open his Word, and receive, is how we can hear God speak to us.

Light for Our Path

Many times in my life, I’ve wanted to hear God speak to me.  There have been instances where I needed to know an answer or just wanted direction for my life.  It’s in those times we seem to seek him the most.  And it’s in those times he will help us because he promises to answer us.  “Ask and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you” (Matthew 7:7-8).

God wants to shine out his light.  His words are light and He wants to illuminate your eyes to see the path he has for you.  It’s through his words that we are given light and by that light we gain understanding.  Revelation comes when we are willing to listen and truly believe that his word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105). 

The Holy Spirit, represented by the dove in Unfolding Light, is the Counselor and the Spirit of truth.  He testifies of Jesus and “will teach you all things and will remind you of everything (Jesus) said…” (John 14:26).  Jesus is called the Word and the Light.  It’s by the light of God’s word that we receive guidance through the Holy Spirit.  And because of that, we can hear God and see the path before us.   

Remember, God wants to speak to you.  He wants to light your path!  Let’s seek his Word and know his light today and always!
