“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” –Matthew 6:33
Glimpse Of Heaven
Have you ever had a glimpse of heaven? I don’t mean a near death, out of body experience, although you may have. What I mean is, have you ever experienced heaven on earth, through a supernatural encounter with the Lord?
It could be through a physical healing, a Bible verse(s) spoken from God’s heart straight to yours, a prayer answered that seemed impossible, a divine appointment, a prophetic vision/dream, or even a miraculous escape from death or injury. Glimpses of heaven happen everyday in our world. The question is, do we recognize them? And do we desire to see heaven on earth?
Seek First
It’s easy to worry about our lives, what we will eat, drink or wear. Since we’re physcial beings in need of physcial things, it’s only natural. However, Jesus wanted his disciples to understand the importance of the kingdom of heaven. In Matthew 6, he told them to seek after the Father’s kingdom first, and then all of the material things needed for life would be given to them as well. Jesus said, “But seek first his (the Father’s) kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). The verse before 33 brings even more clarity and comfort:
“For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them” (Matthew 6:32).
Our heavenly Father knows what we need, even before we ask him. And most importantly, he is big enough to provide for everything we need; therefore we don’t need to “worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).
Instead of looking down at our own lives, we should be looking up to the Lord for glimpses of heaven. If we seek after Jesus, walking by faith each day, then our lives will reflect his glory and his kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven.
May we seek the Father’s kingdom and his righteousness first, in our devotion to him and through our love and service to others. And may we not worry, but rather trust in the Lord, who provides for our needs and helps us to see his majestic glory through glimpses of heaven on earth each day of our lives.
That’s a real good one, Curt.
Thank you William! God bless you and may you see glimpses of heaven!
