Encouragement for your walk with God

“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. -Malachi 4:2

The Eagle

Driving to church one day, I saw an eagle in the sky.  In fact, while crossing a bridge, the eagle soared right in front of me. It was incredible because the timing was perfect and I love eagles.  It got even better at church, because the eagle became the inspiration for my painting, Healing Wings.

After painting the eagle at church, I began painting sun rays shining through the eagle’s wings.  Malachi 4:2 (NIV) says revere instead of fear.  To fear or revere means to show respect and love; to obey God.  In other words, when we fear (revere) God, he heals us.

Healing Is Here

If you’ve ever been healed, it’s an incredible experience.  I can testify to many times where God healed me physically.  Some of those were instant miracles, where someone prayed for me, and I was immediately healed of a headache or pain in my body.  Other times I prayed by myself and was healed.

Miracles are amazing.   And even if a miracle doesn’t happen right away, it doesn’t mean God isn’t  healing; it doesn’t mean he’s ignoring.  God hears all our prayers and sometimes healing is not automatic, but gradual.  In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus says,  “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”  Jesus is talking about a continual asking, seeking and knocking.  God wants us to always pray; he wants us to press in with all our hearts.  The incredible promise is that he will answer and we will receive.

Let’s be bold in our faith, seeking Jesus like the woman from Matthew 9:20; 22:

Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak…Jesus turned and saw her.  “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”  And the woman was healed from that moment (Matthew 9:20; 22).
