Encouragement for your walk with God

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28

Jesus Is Our Rest

Sometimes God makes us lie down and rest like a shepherd does his sheep.  And although we are to remember the Sabbath day by keeping it  holy, the Good Shepherd does this for our benefit.  Rest is a gift from the Lord and even he rested on the seventh day after creation.  How much more should we rest knowing the Lord took a day to rest?

As God’s sheep, he is calling us to trust him, because the Lord is our Shepherd and in him all our needs are met. He is our Provider!  “The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not be in want” (Psalm 23:1).

God wants us to rest as we run this race and to keep our focus on the prize of Jesus Christ.  For Jesus is our goal and our help; He is our comfort and our rest. When we are busy, Jesus is our rest.  When we are tired, Jesus is our rest.  When we are weary and burdened, Jesus is our rest.  No matter the situation, we can come to Jesus and the promise is He will give us rest.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Thank you Jesus for being our Good Shepherd and Good Father!  Thank you for being our rest!

‭”He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores (refreshes) my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

-Psalm 1:2-3

Since God designed our bodies, he knows how important rest is for us. We should trust Him, obey Him, and follow His example.

    Very good scripture references.
