“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people…” -Acts 2:17

Rain

I used to not like it when it rained.  Rain can be wet and cold, dangerous to travel in; it causes delays and cancels events. Rain makes things inconvenient.  However, rain is refreshing, especially on a hot day.  Rain is also used for drinking water and for cleaning.  Without rain, there would be no flowers and trees; rivers and streams would dry up.  Actually, we need rain.  It’s an essential part of our lives.

There’s symbolism in rain as well.  It represents God’s provision and blessing; rain symbolizes the Holy Spirit.  Standing In His Presence is about receiving God’s rain – receiving God’s Holy Spirit.  Above the shadowed person in Standing In His Presence, is a dove, representing the Holy Spirit.  God loves to pour out His presence on us.  In order to receive more of him, we need to be in the right position.  I think Standing In His Presence expresses that position of the heart.  It’s a whole-hearted, opened hand and arm desire to be with him.  There’s an urgency and desperation for having more of God.  I personally want that.  I want to be in a place where I stand in his presence, unashamed, and in total surrender to him.  What’s your position?  And where do you stand?

Pour

The result of God pouring out his Spirit is amazing.  In Acts, God says, we (his sons and daughters) will prophesy and have visions and dreams in the last days!  I believe we’re in those days and God is pouring out his Spirit as we reach up to heaven. Rain is a blessing and it’s from God.  The Holy Spirit is a blessing and he’s from God.  Thank you Father for pouring out your presence on us!  Let’s respond by receiving his rain; let’s receive his Spirit!

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.” (Acts 2:17-18)
