Encouragement for your walk with God
“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God…the great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.”
-Revelation 21:2; 21
Temple
In his vision, the apostle John saw the new city of Jerusalem with a great street of pure gold, along with walls and gates made of precious stones and jewels. He saw Jerusalem coming down to earth. It was an incredible prophecy of what’s still to come for those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Another beautiful prophecy is that of the temple. John said, “I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp” (Revelations 21:22-23). The glorious yellow light I see in Streets Of Gold reminds me of the glorious light of Father God and Jesus in heaven one day.
Come Forth as Gold
“…when he has tested me…I will come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).
Pure gold is a precious metal and highly valuable. It does not oxidize or rust. Throughout our lives our faith is tested in the fire of trials and tribulations, much like that of a precious metal in the fire of a blacksmith. When the impurities are burned off, the metal comes out purer than before.
I long for my own faith to be pure like the golden street of heaven! Trusting in Jesus and setting my eyes on Him is part of the process. And the beautiful new Jerusalem from heaven is a great promise and reward for those who stay the course. We’ll not only live in the new Jersualem, but we’ll also be with Jesus, “the prize for which God has called (us) heavenward” (Philippians 3:14).
Jesus said, “I am making everything new” (Revelation 21:5) and that includes our faith!
“He who overcomes will inherit all this” (Revelation 21:7).
“Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God will himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelations 21:3-4).
