Encouragement for your walk with God

“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.”  -Isaiah 26:4

Persepective

“It’s all about perspective.”

I’ve used that popular quote many times during difficult situations, because my perspective was different than others.  I could see the positive while others only saw the negative.  A different view point can often change someone’s mind and refocus them; even give them a hope they didn’t have before.  And when that viewpoint or perspective is from God’s eyes, then everything changes.

I’d like to alter the quote a little and make it a statement of faith:

It’s all about perspective and my perspective is from God.

Eyes of Faith

Through faith we can see God’s perspective (the truth) and because of that we can have hope.  “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1, KJV).  When I think about people of faith, I think of King David on the battlefield with Goliath.  David had eyes of faith.  He saw from God’s perspective.  He didn’t see a 9 foot giant.  He saw a puny little giant compared to His great big God (Notice in the artwork how small the enemies are compared to the man on the rock).  David had faith that God would deliver the enemy into his hands.  Do we have that same kind of faith that God will deliver our enemies into our hands?  Can we defeat the lies, the pain, and the emotions that so often surround our minds and hearts?

The answer is yes.  Yes!  God is bigger and yes God is stronger!  The battle is the Lord’s and nothing is too big for God to overcome.  And nothing is too big for you to overcome.  “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4, KJV).  King David understood that, because he had a different perspective than King Saul and even the Israelite army.  David trusted in his God and he overcame because he had faith…he had a faith to see and do the impossible.  He had a perspective that was from God!

Safe on the Rock

Many times we rely on our own eyes and even emotions, when God wants us to trust Him and have faith.  Our own physical eyes and feelings can be deceptive.  And when we start relying more on man and man’s perspective, then we are more easily defeated.  That’s why faith in God and seeing the way He sees is so vital if we are to have victory.

In fact, faith is the only way to please God (Hebrews 11:6).  If we are in a difficult situation, Trust In The Lord needs to be our battle cry and our declaration.  When enemies surround us,  we can know that God is with us and He is placing us high upon a rock, above the very ones that are saying lies and threatening our souls.  We don’t have to worry because we are safe on the Rock.  We are safe because we are standing firm on Jesus, who is the Rock!

“When I felt secure, I said, ‘I will never be shaken.’ O Lord, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm…” (Psalm 30:6-7)

“For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.  Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me…”  (Psalm 27:5-6)
